California-Nevada United Women in Faith will be meeting in person at Asbury UMC in Livermore on Saturday October 15th from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. PT. The event will also be live streamed so that people can join virtually.
The reflection for the day will be James 2:14-17 NIV: What good is it, my brothers, and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
This year’s celebration will be graced by the Western Jurisdiction President of the United Women in Faith, Bonita Jane Miller. Bonita has been involved in United Women in Faith in various capacities for more than thirty-five years. She is currently the Western Jurisdiction President and a member of the Program Advisory Group assigned to the Eliminating Institutional Racism Working Group. She has held conference and jurisdiction positions as Chair of Nominations and was Conference President 2015-2019. She enjoys program and retreat design and helping at the Food Bank and local church pantry. Yoga, gardening, and outdoor activities are some of her passions. Bonita recently pursued and received a graduate certificate in Permaculture Design and enjoys dabbling in Herbal Medicine.
In person attendance is $25 and virtual attendance is free. Registration is required for both in person and virtual participation.
