Communications

The California-Nevada Conference communications office is responsible for telling the story of  our faith family connection in Northern California and Northern Nevada. This includes communications within the annual conference, to the larger global United Methodist connection, and to the secular world.

Your communications team publishes a weekly e-newsletter, Instant Connection, (IC), on Thursday afternoons each week. The IC is a repository of the latest news and resources from the local churches in each of our 5 districts, our agencies and committees, as well as news from our UMC national and international agencies and partners.

Stories from the Instant Connection are published on our website under our news tab, and are featured on social media through our Facebook, and Twitter accounts.

We welcome the submission of news stories, events, and classified requests that serve the mission of our larger connection, including ecumenical and interreligious communities.

  • Events included in the newsletter should highlight the connectional ministry of the conference or local church.
  • Fundraising events should be for United Methodist missions or community giving.
  • Publication of events or job postings within the conference structure are welcome and encouraged.
  • Submissions by outside groups and partners will be considered on a case by case basis and should be ecumenical or community-based.

The deadline to submit items for the Instant Connection is by noon the Wednesday, prior to Thursday publication. Space limitations and other considerations may prevent your material from being published immediately. We reserve the right to edit any and all submitted material.
